Captain John Oravec, Niagara River Guide, offers winter drift fishing on the lower Niagara River from Lewiston NY downstream to the Niagara Bar. Fall, winter and spring runs tend to overlap for consistent results. Each year these waters host spawning and feeding runs of monster Steelhead, Brown and Lake Trout as well as bonus huge Walleye.

USCG Licensed for 32 years, Capt John ardently guides these waters using his 20ft Lund, the "Johnny O", with 200 hp Yamaha power, and a roomy weather protected design. Professional rigging onboard includes a Furuno Color fish finder, Garmin GPS, uniden VHF radio, Cell Phone, and all USCG safety equipment. Fishing tackle runs the high end with Garcia, Berkley, Minn Kota, and Seagar.
Fishing techniques aboard the "Johnny O" covers fresh spawn bottom drifting, certified live bait for feeding fish, a custom drift plug program, plus additional "Special Tactics" like jigging spoons, surface flat lines and Fly fishing on request. Each technique is taught to you with a patient, cool manner so everyone is scoring action every day. |
